The CoAP protocol (Constrained Application Protocol) is a specialized web transfer protocol for use with constrained nodes and constrained networks in the Internet of Things. It has been standardized by the IETF as RFC 7252 in 2014, and although it is quite new, it has received quite good uptake by industry and research.
This talk will give you an overview of the CoAP protocol and its role in the (wireless) Embedded Internet. Also you will get in touch with libcoap, an open-source library for CoAP that can be used on embedded platforms as well as your favorite Linux box. And finally, you will learn more about libcoap's role in existing IoT projects and, of course, hear about the future plans we have for libcoap.
The talk will be held by the maintainer of the libcoap Olaf Bergmann from the TZI Bremen.
