Sometimes someone writes an excellent email, or fixes a bug I really care about, or packages a software I really want to use, and I'd like to say thank you.
I'd like to have a site that collects "thank you" statements, and shows the best emails of the month, the most important bugs that have been fixed, the cool new software that lots of people have been waiting for.
The site could be used to feed contributors.debian.org: if I write an email that gets thanked, it should count as a contribution.
Then we could add a little button to the list archives, that shows if I'm authenticated with sso.debian.org, and files a 'thank you' for the current email. The button could have a "thumbs up" icon and... oh wait.
At the moment, the majority of the feedback that we get for our Debian work is bug reports: more work. Let's also have some cuddles, shall we?
If you like the idea, join the BoF and we'll see how to make it happen.
