Debian kernel from a vendor PoV -- Jared Dominguez

Kernel hardware enablement and feature development relevant to hardware vendors is typically a process between hardware vendors and commercial OS vendors. While this usually eventually fulfills the needs of distributions like Debian, there are many areas where the process is inadequate and almost always untimely for those Linux distributions without direct backing from large OS vendors. At the heart of the issue is often mentioned the lack of a company on both sides to manage the development relationship, requiring much more of a time and resource commitment for hardware vendors. The intention of this BoF is to attempt to better understand how large hardware vendors and Debian can improve this relationship deficiency.

This session is to be led by Jared Dominguez, who is an engineer for Dell's Enterprise Solutions Group on their Linux Engineering team. He and his team (and the related Dell End-User Computing Linux team) work regularly with all the major commercial Linux vendors.
